PRINCIPLES AND ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
The conference room of, Bouygues Immobilier or the Galeo, has multiple lines and line weights used throughout the space which are found in the ceiling, the partition wall directly behind the television, and even the outline of the chairs and the base of the casters. The emphasis on the conference room is directed towards the television screen which is in proportion to the rest of the space sitting in what appears to be the center of the room. The pattern of the ceiling planks of wood are found in the pattern on the partitioned wall behind the television and the sleekness of the tall chairs. The space is symmetrically balanced in that the furthest part of the room leads the eye to the tip of the table and ceiling which gives direction to anyone in the space or looking at the space. The tabletop is arrow shaped to resemble the shape of the entire building, which is triangular with curved ends. The space is symmetrical and in proportion with the exterior of the building. The chairs help to elongate the height of the ceiling and the table is proportional to the ceiling according to the lights. The color scheme of the room is sand with some brown and accents of blue which help give the room a clean and calm sense. Overall, the appearance of the space is sleek and slender giving the room a sense of higher ceilings with high back chairs and an elongated table which is symmetrical to the ceiling and the general space of the entire building.
The Galeo is a real-estate development outside of Paris and the interior of the building continues repetition from the exterior through the sleek lines of the windows to the shape of the entire structure. The exterior has no variety and a distinct pattern found around the entire exterior of the building. The same concept of the translucent glass used for the windows was the same idea for the conference room in that the tabletop is non-reflective for those who sit there in order for them to view the screens that sit beneath the table. After viewing the space as a hole, it is evident that repetition of lines, colors, proportion, and rhythm were used both on the interior as well as the exterior.
Hey Skoya, What a interesting conference room. Why don't you try to render it =]. Hand draw that stuff for Collier! Just kidding, but I like all the lines that are used on the ceiling and the repeated shape of the conference table to the ceiling and the overall shape of the room. The office chairs are pretty neat themselves.
ReplyDeleteI love the conference room space. The chairs create interest and variety to a normal conference room setting. The emphasis of the ceiling, shape of the room and builiding all add interest. You explained how the principles and elements are used very well.
ReplyDeleteI like the Buddha Background :)
